I’m sure Undergrads will mean something when you’re not getting their tuition money anymore.

The comment from the Bard just proves the professor’s point. Profs don’t lose their jobs because of student evaluations. You can be as mean as you want on a site like this, but it won’t affect his job. If his classes don’t fill, they’ll just switch him to a class that’s not an elective. Student’s will put up with a bad prof if they need the class to graduate on time.

I thought this was kind of sad. I felt bad for him, he really does mean good

I agree with “jt” and “Pls”sounds like a nice guy and watching these clips, it kinda makes you feel sorry for him. I probably would check out his class if I lived in Michigan….

He seems sweet. It also looks like some of the comments genuinely hurt his feelings. If silly jokes are the worst things about him he is probably one of the better teachers.

I feel awful for this guy he seems to mean a lot of good. He keeps apologizing even tho the students are ripping him down. Sweet guy!

He seems like a sneaky foreigner looking for sympathy.. but seriously I just felt bad watching him maybe because he is nervous, but come on man they are just undergrads step on them.

I feel sorry for him. He’s not there to get his stand-up career going. He’s trying to instill some wisdom and knowledge in your puny little brains. So, if he makes a couple of bad jokes in class, get over it!

Professor LaVaque-Manty, don’t let those students get to you. It’s not worth getting upset about. Believe me. I am studying now to be an English/Spanish teacher, and I know times will be (and are already) hard, but just look past that and see that there’s a brighter future ahead. Trust me.
And they don’t like jokes? Oh, well. Their loss. Some students these days are just ungrateful and have no sense of courtesy. You seem nice, so just be yourself and ignore the rudeness you encounter.
Have a wonderful year!!
